Get the ladders!

It has been a huge privilege to be related to Monty for the last 50 years. He was one of life's 'gentlemen'. A sad loss. As his brother-in -law and friend he was the 'go to' man who knew most solutions to most problems. The most helpful and conscientious man I have ever known. Also, to me, he could be comical and we shared some jobs at his various houses which would usually involve me digging vast pits while Monty 'advised'. Brilliant! Enjoyed every minute! In the early 70's at his first house at Leigh-on-Sea we were working at the front on some project. We were both dressed in work clothes with no cash on us. At midday Monty decided we needed a pint at the 'Woodcutters' pub opposite but in order to keep the plan from 'Those indoors' he got his ladders, climbed up and into bedroom window, obtained cash, climbed back down and off we went undetected. Loved the man. Not so much his loud rendition of 'Fairytale of New York' by the Pogues on Christmas day!

Saluti Monty. Never forget you. Malcolm.
